They’re on their way.
I thought instead of explaining the registration nightmares I’m having, I would open up the discussion to discuss how registration is going for you.
However, possibly even more importantly, if you could respond to this message with this information:
1. What grade you’re going to be in next semester (1st or 2nd semester as well!)
2. Whether or not you’re a transfer student
and
3. What day/time you have slotted for your registration
and, if you’d like
4. What you’ve experienced so far in the registration process
By knowing this, we can really see what’s going on with registration and its crazy order. I’m not sure about all of you, but I’m registering a full two days after some of my peers that will be seniors. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an upcoming junior who registers before me.
So, come on, participate!
I’ll start it off:
1. Going to be a 1st semester senior
2. I AM a transfer student
3. I’m scheduled for Thursday, April 3 at 11 AM
1. Going to be a 1st semester junior
2. I’m a transfer student
3. I’m slotted for April 9th, 9:30 AM
4. I want to take a critical listening class to fulfill a recommendation since the rest of the classes are writing for tv and film and since I don’t want to do anything in writing I want to take the critical listening but it’s listed as Sophomore Only :/
1. 1st Semester Junior
2. No, I am not a transfer student.
3. To be honest, I’m not sure when my registration is but I know that my VMA advisor has always helped me stay on top of my registration process.
1. I’ll be a first semester senior.
2. I am a transfer student.
3. Slotted for: Thursday, April 3, 2pm
4. Must get into two specialization courses to graduate on time; also…Motion Graphics is the only course I came here REALLY wanting to take, so that would be a plus also…
1. I will be a first semester junior.
2. I am not a transfer student.
3. Monday, April 7, 10:30 am
4. I have had a lot of issues with registration… I am a film production major, who wants to go into production design, but Emerson doesn’t offer a track for production designers. Some of the theater tech classes would be really great, but after speaking to more or less the entire theater tech department, the only progress I’ve made is getting on the wait list for drafting. I won’t know if I can take it until after they know how many freshman theater tech students there will be next fall. I’m currently looking into taking classes at the BAC through pro-arts, because Emerson is really making me very frustrated with blocking me from theater tech classes.
1. Second-and-a-half semester senior over the summer, or something.
2. Nay transfer.
3. No reg time, but aside from Summer Registration being totally down when it opened, it was a painless process.
But certain internship procedures are frustrating, like the inability to take a 40-hr/wk internship over one summer session rather than a 20-hr/wk set over the whole summer. Thanks to this, so I don’t have to stick around and take one class some Fall, I’ll have to be commuting from here to NYC and back every week. Way to go, Career Services!
UPDATE, post-registration:
So although I didn’t get into one of my first choice specializations, or my first choice cinematography section, I did get into two specializations AND motion graphics.
Because of the VM cap for seniors (dumb..), I’ll only be taking 12 credits. Classes MTW, with more time to get a job to actually PAY for school, I guess that’s logical.
Anyway, I’m generally happy, as I will be graduating on time now.
1. Gonna be a first-semester senior in the fall.
2. Transfer!
3. Tuesday, April 2nd at 12:45p (it already happened).
4. For the first time in my LIFE… no problems with registering, really. I’d really like to get into a couple upper-level VMA courses (as a journalism student), but can’t tinker with the getting-signed-in thing until the semester is over. So I’ve left some wiggle-room in my head, with hopes that I can get into one of them.
